About Us

Welcome to
Spruce Cottage Farm

My name is Jolene Billwiller and I am delighted to share my passion for all things gardening with you.

Spruce Cottage Farm is located at various spots throughout Haines Junction, Yukon, gateway to the magnificent Kluane country, in the traditional territory of the Champagne and Aishihik First Nations - a challenging growing area that keeps me on my toes (snow in June, anyone?)!

I grow vegetable, flower and herb starts for sale as well as produce for myself and for market. I also save seeds, grow cut and dried flowers and culinary and medicinal herbs, as well as hosting seasonal workshops and providing organic gardening education.

My gardening inspiration comes from many places: my landscape, my wish to grow food for myself and others, my desire to share my gardening knowledge and the gratitude I feel for my mentors; plus its super-fun! It is so satisfying to cook with vegetables and herbs you have grown yourself or to brighten your home with vibrant flowers nurtured by your own hands.

Let me inspire you to create a garden space to suit your needs and desires - be it a two acre farm or a collection of containers.

Thank you for visiting my website.

I'd like to encourage you to subscribe to my email newsletter to keep in touch with what I'm up to here at Spruce Cottage Farm.

Our Wares

Quality Bedding Plants in a greenhouse. Potpourri and Dried Flowers. Wedding Flower Bouquets. Fresh Arthichokes Bookkeeping Services.

Spruce Cottage Farm's diverse range of products and services gives me the opportunity to explore all aspects of a gardening life and business. From March to the end of June, I am immersed in seedlings, soil and sweat! By the beginning of July, the nursery is closed and the market garden is planted - four months of exhilarating and frenzied labour rewarding me with a community of people growing their own food using seedlings that I grew and a garden poised to produce an abundance of vegetables, flowers and herbs for myself and my neighbours.
August to October sees me harvesting, preserving, maintaining (read: weeding!), creating and enjoying. From November to February winter sets in and the garden becomes a fond memory. As the income tax season approaches, I am busy ensuring my clients' books are in order and ready for the accountant. As a bookkeeper, I strive to provide accurate and responsible reporting of a business' revenues and expenses. There is still enough time to cross country ski, though!
And the cycle begins again.........

The plant nursery provides quality vegetable, flower and herb starts to the Kluane region. Plants are grown from seed in Haines Junction, producing plants that are acclimatised to growing in the area. Subsequently, gardeners will find that plants from Spruce Cottage Farm's plant nursery are hardy and vigorous. Spruce Cottage Farm is not certified organic; however, I follow organic growing principles and guidelines in all of my growing endeavours.
